The Center for Engaged Learning provides international students with services which include orientation (new students) and advising on immigration issues.  Students are encouraged to participate in campus activities and automatically belong to the International Student Organization (ISO) upon arrival. In addition, the Center provides students with information on cultural issues, internships and employment options.

Students with sophomore status or above and an appropriate grade point average may elect to study major, minor, or Liberal Arts Studies Program requirement courses in a foreign country with Coker College or in cooperation with an approved educational institution or program. The Coker College Center for Engaged Learning provides assistance with program selection and arrangements.

The staff of the Center for Engaged Learning coordinates the program of academic internships at Coker College. Internships are learning experiences designed to complement classroom learning in a practical way in a chosen field of study.  The internship program is an important part of Coker College's objective to have students actively involved in their learning and to develop critical thinking.

Coker College’s strong belief that education is for the betterment of humanity leads the College to provide experiences for students in community service as a part of their formal studies.Community service provides an early opportunity for students to develop leadership skills that reflect initiative, vision and caring in their response to the community. Faculty, staff and students participate in keeping the College alert to community situations where the College can be of help in meaningful ways.The Center’s staff also works with the Sparrow Scholarship Committee to promote the scholarship and track the recipients’ progress.
